You know, I've switched over to Firefox for my web browser and Thunderbird for my email client but what pisses me off to no end is that I can't click on the portfolio option when I want to post a picture and have the code inserted into my message automatically like I can with Internet Exploder. This issue was brought up before but there was no resolution to it then. Now I hearing of people being able to click on the image in their portfolio and have the code automatically inserted into their messages. What am I doing wrong? I'm about ready to go back to IE (bite my tongue) just for that feature alone.

Your help would be most appreciated if you are a Firefox user and know how to get it to do what I want it to do here in GG.

Thanks and have a great week!

Mike

I don't know much about Firefox (although I used it for some time when it first came out). Few days ago somebody reported some 8 security "holes" in Firefox. If you are swithching to IE Explorer or Netscape (I don't like it) -in my opinion- that's the best thing to do.

I haven't used IE in over 5 years, so I don't know what functionality it has. But when I want to insert an image here from my portfolio (using Firefox), I go to my portfolio, right-click on the image and choose "copy image location". I then click the Image UBB code and paste the image location into the window that pops up (using CTRL-V).

Hope this helps.

I use IE on here because Firefox doesn't handle the scripts the same. From what I understand, the scripts are using something proprietary to IE and no one has the time to recode all of it from scratch. (That would be a huge job.)

Netscape might or might not work, but since it's built on the mozilla engine, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Hi Chip,

Perhaps this is what the other person was doing. I've done that as well but it sure would be nice to just click on the image and have the link pasted automatically.

Thanks and have a great week!

I have been using FF for a long time and GG is the only site I have trouble with in this regard. There are holes in FF but not even close to as many as exist in Internet ExploDER. Be that as it may, I have my home networked with several computers and I'm in the process of buildling a Linux firewall (just because I like doing stuff like that). I also have my router configured with a firewall and I'm pretty anal about my computer security.

As much as I hate Microsoft, their antivirus/spyware tool (whatever it's called) works great! I'm not really happy with Norton at the moment. It's supposed to scan email upon arrival for viruses and such and I received 8 emails with viruses that went undetected and they totally phuked up my computer. Back to the drawing board for network security (email at least).

Hey, have a great week and thanks for your thoughts.

Mike

I'm using Firefox for about 6 months now. No problems on GG - I'm not sure what the procedure you're doing is as I host my posted photos from my own website domain. I've had not problem uploading to my GG portfolio though. Every once in a while I'll find some function not working on a more elaborate site, like my bank, and then I use IE for that, but not unless I have to. Here's an odd one - the Fedex shipping site will so everything I ask using FF, except open the window to give me a courtesy price quote. It will open other windows for other features, but not that one. The other thing is, I use Thunderbird for email, and if I click an email link in FF, it brings up the Google gmail page instead of the T-bird composition window - most of the time. Oh well, I still like them better than the MS apps.

Regards,
