So the Hensel Porty is a little over my budget right now and I was wondering if anyone is using a generator to power a regular strobe. Home depot
the one below for $400 with 1500 Watt continues power.

What kind of strobes are you powering? I've done some research on doing exactly this, and have come up with some theoretical solutions (I say theoretical because I haven't put it to use yet) with Alien Bees.

You'd probably better check with the manufacturer of your strobes. They've probably considered this and will have a better answer for you.

I would look at the Honda 3000. It is very quit and stable. I have run small HMI of it without a problem.
