I\'m still trying to get my Epson Stylus Photo printer to work

I went out and shot an image of my dog spike and took the CF card out of the camera and put it right in the slot on the printer and hit print. The image look like crap. So my next idea was to take the CF card to the local drug store and print it out there. And what do you know ? The image looked great. So
being that the printer at home was not able to print my image right what could be wrong with it ? My inks are below 1/2 mark. There are 6 of them in there I think. Does that make a difrence ?

Nope, should not make a difference. Are ya sure you are going into properties and making sure the right media and photo settings are right? That would be my first suspect. What else have you tried? I'm on all nite tonite on yahoo, name on there is mel1reh if you are still around...I can take ya through it...

My guess is the drug store's machine does some auto color correcting and your printer doesn't.

What camera are you shooting with? What is the problem with the print? (Color cast or what.)

After going though about 20 prints I have seen two things going on. Some prints have a greenish/redish look to them when the background is not bright. And other prints get blotchy looking in the dark areas. Almost a gold color in the dark areas. And that is with the printer not connected to the computer and no ajustments to the images. The same images will work at the local drug store.

Like I mentioned, the drug store is probably doing some automatic color correction. How do the images look when you pull them straight into PS, before you do any editting/correcting?

Which camera are you using?

The images look fine in photoshop and I use the Nikon D100. Don't go by the image of my dog in my first post. That image is not one I printed.

They look the same as if I printed them strait from the card. I narrowed it down to the printer it's self. I might have a bad ink bank or something. I am going to buy all new inks and see what happens.

That was going to be my suggestion. Lyson makes cleaning cartridges, if that helps any. Did a good job of cleaning ink dried to goo out of a 1270 I had for a while.
