My father in law has a boatload of slides that he would like to scan and put on CD. It seems that I have seen slide scanners at somepoint but cant think of where or what they were. I am just talking about a consumer grade scanner. Any info that you may have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Scott

Slide scanners are all over the place. I've seen several at Frys. In fact, I have a HP Photosmart slide scanner for sale. It does slides, negatives and also up to a 5x7 print.
Cheers,
rfs

Ever considered just taking them somewhere and having them scanned. A lab maybe? I did this for a friend for like 50 cents a scan @ 8.5x11 size, medium res, which is good for most people's private use.

Coolscan's from Nikon are what I have most experience on, they are ok. Also KODAK when they were pushing the RFS series.

All in all, if this is a one time job, and you yourself arn't shooting slides, look into the local labs, most of them have a nice slidescan with ice technology would cost you a little more, but can't put a price on batchscanning and your sanity after hours of moving slides along.

Just my $0.02

Hey Scott, I've had lot of good luck with Agfa brand scanners. I use one at work that has looks like a flatbed, which it is as well, but it has a pull out tray for negatives or slides. My experience has been a good one with Agfa, so check some out, I don't have any model numbers for you, but hopefully I can be of some help.
