So I've read alot of posts from people discussing different types of equipment. I've read about computers, lighting, cameras. But that lead me to wonder... what does everyone on here use. I think it would be great to see everyone list what they've got. It'll give us a chance to see what equipment others might have had experience with, so we know who to ask about hings we might be considering or if we're having problems or questions might allow us to know who might have answers or atelast have the same problems so we don't feel alone in this world. I'll start.

I started my photography by purchasing a Nikon N60 and a couple lenses when I was sixteen. Shortly after I went to a local camera store and on an impulse buy while looking for a lens ended up getting a vivitar enlarger, trays and everything I needed. Quickly my parents bathroom became a dark room.

After HS I started working at a studio, Dreesen Photography, from which I learned more than I could have imagined when I walked into the place to try for a job. While working there I purchased a Bronica ETRS with an AEII prism, several backs, speed grip, 75mm lens, the whole nine. I also ended up buying a 150mm lens and Minolta auto meter IIIf from them (equipment they had upgraded). Completing the kit, I eventually purchased a used 50mm lens from a shop by a buddy's house. I stopped shooting 35mm the day I got my Bronica.

When I decided to purchase Lighting, I was looking at photgenics (it's what the studio I had worked for used) But the head of the photo dept. at the college I was attending couldn't stress enough how great the calumet Travelites were. So upon his suggestion and using the kit the dept had purchased, I decided to take the trip to calumet (I love that trip, except it always costs me money), and left that day with a two travelite 750 kit that came with stands case and umbrellas. Also ordered a Medium sized Photoflex Strip dome (cause I can't stress enough how much I love the strip domes...the first day I had to setup a set in my photo class at the college, I was going through the softboxes and found one, I thought to myself, hey I wonder how this'll look, so I used it and fell instantly inlove)

And then I went digital. It was november of 2003, the owner of the company I worked for, Stonecutters (a granite shop in the north suburbs of chicago), had a Nikon D100 and told me I could use it because I was doing a shoot of a friend's band that weekend and wanted to get him files without the burden of scanning, unfortunately the day he was gonna let me borrow it, the owner decided that he didn't need to come in. So that night, I went to bestbuy applied for a credit card, and walked out with a digital rebel kit (stupid nikon not having the D70 out when I needed it, but canon has served me well and I will probably stick with them). I haven't used my medium format since.

After having such a nifty camera and a couple months of using my old AMD K6-3 450mhz 384mb of ram and 6 gig hd, I realized that it really wasn't cutting it, so it was off to the computer show. Now I run an AMD Atholon XP-2500+ with a gig of ram, 120 Gig hd, and Radeon 9200 with 128mb video ram (I know it's a cheap card but I don't play games)

In March of last year, my girl at the time was out of town so I decided that I should go out with a couple of my friends, who of course were broke that weekend. So after a fun weekend of spending $350 on my friends and myself, I went to Calumet that week to purchase the printer I had been wanting. Unfortunately when I looked at my check book while walking in, I realized what was going to happen. So I walked out with a 1280 instead of the 2200, but will be saving for the R1800 and won't make that same mistake twice.

My most recent purchases have been a DVD writer for backing up and a 19" Viewsonic A91f+ to replace my six year old Gateway 17" monitor.....my colors have improved dramatically from that. The spider didn't even do much for that old monitor.

So, yeah. I guess that's probably a bit more than any of ya needed to know, but I guess I kinda used that as a way to introduce myself a bit. Sorry it was so long. Bah, I might as well throw in a few more things just to complete the introduction a little. I live in the south suburbs of chicago and used to work up north (It's a long drive to the Northshore from just south of 80, chi people on here might know what I'm talking about) so about a year ago I started working at a granite shop I found close to home. I have been enjoying reading this forum very much, and am kicking myself for not being brighter a year ago when I first heard about it. I read about it in one of my magazines, so I went to check it out, found alot of tips and things like that, but didn't see what was so impressive. Then I think in november I actually clicked on the link to the forum and have been reading ever since. I love photography and hope to do it for a living some day, but it's getting harder and harder the more comfortable I get. Factories are a trap, even when it's a trade...

Going down the same road as you, it looks like. I have 2 Bronicas with the AEII an assortment of lenses, and finally went for the D70. Even the Gateway is familiar!! Hoping to upgrade soon.

if you're upgrading your monitor I can't stress enough how nice the viewsonics are. I was looking at Lacie, but for refurbished I was looking at more than what I paid for mine. A guy that runs a local digital print shop recomended the viewsonics to me, and I find it to be well worth his recomendation.

Oh god,...I could type all night and still be only half way done..

This is what I have owned:

First camera was a Chinon point and shoot 35mm film camera back in 1989.

Minolta Maxxum System 1991-1996:

7000i, 8000i, two 9xi bodies, 3xi, 5400HS flash , two Vivitar 285 flashes, a Sigma 35-80 f4-5.6, Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6, Minolta 50mm f1.7, Minolta 80-200mm f2.8 HS G, Tamron 300mm f2.8, 500mm Samsung (spelling??) f8 Mirror lens (worst lens I ever bought)

Mamiya system 1993 - 2003:

645 with standard 75mm f2.8 lens, the prisim finder, and a 50 (if I remember correctly) mm lens...which I bought a "Jones flash bracket Grip" for.. I later traded all this up for an RB67 ProS body, w/ prisim finder, three 120 backs, two NPC Polaroid backs (one for colour and one for B&W) and a 50mm f4.5 lens, the standard 90mm f3.8 lens, and the 180mm f4.5? lens and bellows lens shade..

Toyo 4x5 system 1998-2002:
basic unit with front and read standard, basic monorail, and binocular finder, 8 double sided film holders, wide angle bellows and a dark cloth...and a 6x9 reduction back.. Lenses: all Schneider: 65mm, 90mm, 150mm, 210mm.

Dark Room 1995?-2003:
Durst 35mm enlarger..Omega...(I forget..I could work with 35mm and up to 6x9cm films) and an Omega for 4x5 with Schneider lenses..50mm, 90mm and a 150mm all B&W enlargers...the 4x5 had a cold fusion head...(I believe that is what it was called..) I also used a Thomas Duplex safe light, and I was equipped to print up to 16x20's.. I had a spinning print washer which worked like a water mill..and I used steal tanks and reals for processing my B&W films.. I managed to push Kodak TMZ film (3200) up to 12,500 once but it looked like someone painted emultion liquid on a gravel pit....although, it ran in the paper believe it or not.. I never shot B&W 4x5.

Meters:

Two Minolta Auto Meter 4F Flash / ambient meters.. Since sold are: Minolta Spot Meter F & Colour meter with a full set of Kodak Wratten gels and mount..

Canon 35mm & Digital System 1996 to present (including equipment I've sold):

Bodies: Two 1n bodies with e-1 boosters, Two 1nRS bodies, three A2/e bodies with VG-10 grips, a 620 body. Digital bodies all with battery grips: Two D30, Two 10D, and Two 20D bodies. Lenses: 20mm f2.8, 50mm f1.8, 80-200mm f2.8 L, 17-35mm f2.8L, 28-70mm f2.8L, 70-200mm f2.8L, 10-22mm EF-S, 15mm full frame f2.8 Fisheye, 24mm f2.8, 35mm f2.0, 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.8, 100mm f2.8 Macro, 135mm f2.0, 200mm f1.8 L, 300mm f2.8 L, 400mm f2.8 Mk2 L, 600mm f4.0 L. Flashes: Quantum Q-Flash with 200 WS Norman lights, Three 540EZ units and Two 550EX units. plus right angle finders B & C, several off camera shoe cords with Two Strobo Frame Quick Flip brackets.

Studio stuff:
White Lightning: Two 1800 and Two 1200 Mono lights, Two 1600 Alien Bees, Two Norman 200B and One Norman 400B kits + Calumet ring flash for the 400B, Vagabond portable power pack..(the better of the two offered).. Gitzo Tripod, several Avenger stands ranging from 6" background to neary 14 ft tall "Lazy Leg" stands..for setting up on a hill or on stairs,..and a Bogan HD Boom stand with full geared head control,.. two sets of background stands, one muslin backdrop, a bunch of different coloured seamless paper rolls..all 9ft wide.. Three Calumet 6x6 ft reflectors..gold, silver and translucent.. One 3x6 ft Westcott frame..with black, white, gold and translucent fabrics.. Two sets of 7" grids from 10º to 40º, two Barndoor sets, a zillion gels, 1/2 mile of extension cords (sometimes it's not enough), Chimera soft boxes : 16x20", 36x48" and a pair of Medium strip lights.. Eclips umbrellas from small to large.. and a Bogan Auto Poll system for the seamless paper backgrounds..

Computers:

DELL from 1998? 500Mgh (top of the line back then..don't laugh) P3, 256 RAM didn't come with a CD burner but it did have a 250 Iomega zip drive for removable storage..and a floppy drive.. Later had a friend install a CD burner after I got into digital photography..

Mac: 2002 Powermac G4 w/ 1.5 Gigs of SDRAM, 800mgh processor, OS 10.3.2 15" LCD screen, with a scuzzy (spelling?) card for my old Minolta 35+ (35mm film scanner from the dark ages...pre dust and scratch removal) External DVD burner, and a Thumpin Harmen Kardon sound system.. I Had a 15" Powerbook for about a week before some "Untermensch" broke into my car and stole it..(while I was attending a "Type O Negative" concert at Milwaukee's "Rave" located in the middle of "Crackville"...also just a few blocks from where Jeffery Dahmer lived and ate people..Yep! .....then I replaced it with a 14" iBook which has served me well.. it has a 40G HD, same OS, a little faster processor,...and I managed to rub off half the keys...thanks in part to over 1,400 posts here on GG.. Oh, and the best thing I could buy for 50 busks... a Lexar firewire CF card reader!! man, I love that thing!! Oh well.. .....I am looking into getting a 4x5 digital back system,...and possibly a 1Ds Mk2...and a replacement for my f2.8 zoom lenses which are a little banged up...and perhaps, buying another 200mm f1.8.....along with some new lighting stuff...like Matthews frames w/ fabrics...and some more location lighting.....and another boom stand that Calumet just came out with that telescopes down..and only 5" shorter than the one I have right now........and a 12" Powerbook.....hopefully all this within a year or two..

I hope to be done buying stuff after then..

I wonder if criminals browsing the internet ever look for lists of valuables like some of the ones posted in this thread. Then if the poster's portofolio has enough address information, they might know where to find a large cache of photo and computer equipment. Perhaps I'm paranoid, but I believe I will refrain from giving out the list of valuables in my possession. What are your thoughts on this?
Cheers,
rfs

You know what else they will find?? A gun owner who has good aim! There are easier targets in town.. I'd suggest they pick those first..

I was actually the first one to respond to this thread...but once I posted the list, I thought twice about it and deleted my post.
