Hi everyone, now that spring is here and the weather is finally getting a bit nicer out here in the plains..we are heading outdoors.. we plan on doing natural lighting only shooting(no money for portable lights). Now before we venture out, we have never done outside shooting..so any tips to help us get a good start on it would be greatly appreciated. Best ISO's for outdoors, shutterspeeds, reflecting natural lighting...apertures and what to pack! Please help out the "newbies" thanks for you tips!!
Don!!

Have a reflector and a flash handy for fill.

If you you shoot fill flash remember to use shutter speed to adjust the amount of sunlight and aperture to adjust the amount of fill flash but don't forget about synch.

Open sun makes sharp (harsh) shadows, overcast makes shadows really soft. Decrease contrast in open sun by adding light to the shadow areas with a reflector or flash (shadows will still be sharp).

Check out golden hour.

Enjoy.

what "hip" said about reflectors and fill-flash. plus you might want to get yourself some kind of scrim that diffuses. (like a silk in a frame.) and then, of course, you'll need an assitant to hold some of this stuff or some stands to do the job.

Ya know, I really picked the wrong handle for this forum.

I think I was frustrated because my usual choices were taken so I swapped the first letters of my first and last name. I'm definitely more a mellow than hip type.

I think I'll ask the great powers of GG to let me change it when I can finally part with the $$ for a life membership.

Your stuff rocks by the way.
