Mine is a 6x8 tablet and I like it. A friend has a 4x6 and it seems to work fine as well.

Whichever you can afford and will be able to fit comfortably on your desk. Both are equally as good, I've used both.

it depends on your penstroke length. i have a 4x5, and i tried a 6x8 and it was just way too big an area to cover for me. it really depends on how big your hand movements are when you're using the pen.

also take into account HOW you edit or retouch. i usually retouch at 400-600%, sometimes more, so i really don't need a large area to cover.

I used a 4x5 for a number of years then changed to a 6x8, switched back to the 4x5 a few days later. I usually edit at a large magnification, and the 6x8 took too much hand movement to edit comfortably.

As big as you can afford. If your paws are like mine, they tend to drawf a 4x5 tablet... I'm using a 6x8, now, and while I like it, I wish I had a larger one.

Mine is the smallest one they made at the time, I got it about 3 years ago for $99 at Best Buy, and it works very well.

I recently had the opportunity to work on one of Wacom's latest gizmos -- it is way sweet but doesn't come cheap! Saving my pennies, even as I type this, to purchase the 21" model.

Have a look on Wacom's site

I use a 12"X12" Wacom tablet. Great for masking and high resolution effects. Get the best you can offord and the minimal for your use.
