My reason for doing this is, I can't afford film and getting it developed.
So I am trading my Canon and stuff for a digital Olympus E-20N, FL-40 flashie thingie, and some of those media cards, in case I want to suddenly break into a poker game, I'll be able to because now I will have the media cards.
This will be alot cheaper for me to learn the art of taking a pic, than the film way. I just can't say about the quality it will give me yet. But I will be able to see quickly if I like the pic or if I need to retake it.
I will keep you informed hehe

Marty

This is da wittle pip I am trading for.

How about just getting a 20D body? You will have much better lenses to chose from, and the depth of field won't be nearly as vast..which is something you should want.. ...the more shallow the depth of field, the more you can isolate your subjects.. The 20D is going for about 1300.00 at B&H right now,...body only.. 8MP, 5 frames per second, super quick responce, fast preview,..even when shooting in RAW mode...solid build, it has a built in flash...it has a PC socket so you can use studio strobes with it,..you can buy it with a kit lens..and lenses for it's system cost less than the Olympus lenses.. The noise is much cleaner than the E20's, and the image laditude is much greater as well.. There are so many reasons why I'd never buy one of those......another reason is because, hardly anyone is buying them,...and if you have friends who use Canon, you might be able to borrow or rent their equipment that you need for a specific purpose.. I have people in town renting my lenses and cameras all the time! ($ Kaching! $)

Hmm let's look at this for a minute.
the 20D= a 1300.00 price tag
E-20N = a trade in of an old pretty film camera so I don't have to wait to afford money for film developing.
I will stick with the E-20N John hon.
UNLESS, you want to buy me that 20D at ONLY 1300.00 and send me it.(Bats eyelashes) Please feel free to do that any time hon. I will happily accept it with open arms and a grateful heart.
(I was even considering a bake sale and car wash to get film money, before I saw the trade in thingie on KEH website)

Side by side comparrison:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/comp...os20d&show=all

In addition,...the 20D is a digital camera...I wasn't sure if you knew that by your reply above.. also, as you can see the specs of the E20 are no match for the 20D body's.. also, you can use your existing Canon EF lenses on your 20D body as well,...oh, and B&H accepts trade ins as well...and aren't subject to being limited to the lens that the Oly. comes with.. that's what's nice about interchangeable SLR lens cameras like the 20D. ..Yep!

Also, be sure to read the "in depth reviews" on these cameras too:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos20d

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/olympuse20

Trust me,...you get what you pay for.. And for starters, I wouldn't recomend anything else...other than perhaps the new Canon digital rebel..which is also very nice too..

Oh well,...that's all..folks.... Please enjoy what ever you decide to buy...I'm just trying to help out where I can..

hehehe Hon, I am absolutely SURE there are nicer cameras out there.
But do you think B&H will really trade me my old canon camera for a new 20D?
(Plus my lenses are FD not EF darlin)
If not, then there isn't much point in this is there?
If I can't afford film developing, would I be able to afford a 20D?
Someone did say to me, save up for the canon , The math of it is, 1300,00 divide that by 18.00 a month I needed to develop film, and it will only be 5.5 years till I can afford that 20D.
The E-20 is looking more and more better.

LOL... you are starting to sound like 2112 about his "awesome" 200 dollar camera.. Oh well..do what you want to do...

Nope, you can't use those lenses with the 20D...but you can trade up and get some money off of the 20D body.. or the new digital rebel which costs a lot less but still has many of the same or nearly the same features as the 20D.. and is still by far better than the Oly. camera you are thinking of getting.. I'd say, save your money..and hey,...maybe you can sell some of your work, and put that money towards paying off your camera..

Best to you!

I am not sure who 2112 is. But if they to had a money issue and got a camera within their budget that takes nice pictures and it didnt cost him anything accept cost of shipping, I am happy for him as well as me.
I was reading up on some cameras and the way people think of them. The hasselblad seems to be one of the most liked cameras because of it's lenses and picture quality and I found they make digital hasselblads.
Did you buy a digital hasseblad?
Sweety, they are only 9,795.00(V96C) or 21,995.00(H1D) from pictureline.com. Seems like they are priced to sell. Remember you get what you pay for hon.
Now if you went with a 1300.00 camera but had the option of getting one of those hasselblads, why did you go with a cheaper camera?
Now no matter how many times you say the 1300.00 camera is so much better, the real world fact is, it is 1282.00 more than I can afford. (as I was typing this I found a reply email from B&H camera, they offer me 250.00 for my Canon camera. That's less than a third what KEH is giving me in trade.Dam that's depressing and about what a local pawn shop offered)
So hon, I'll do the best I can with what I can afford. And if I like what I make with it, I will brag about it.
So darlin, as I said, if you want to donate one of those high dollar Canon cameras to me, please do. (new or used, it doesnt matter I will accept any)

Look, I'm a film person, a fashion photographer who prefers film for a large variety of reasons, and my clients do to, for an equally large variety of reasons, despite a few selling points of digital. I also shoot digitally for the few instances/purposes where digital's selling points are most applicable, primarily model testing and knock-out stuff where material costs are a dominant factor.

That said, something specific you mentioned made me immediately thing "film." Your love of B&W. If you've got a discerning eye, and the fact that you develop and print your own would lead me to believe that you do, the fact is that digital is going to leave you dry. I'm not wild about digital's look in color but I really hate it in B&W. ESPECIALLY in the case of a DSLR.

The Mamiya 645 is a nice set-up. I personally use the Contax 645 because I love the operation and the feel of it. Not as much a quality preference as it is a "semantic" preference. I like the old-school knobs and dials as opposed to LCDs modal buttons and wheels, I like the feel of quality (that camera's in my hands an awful lot) and I like the "feel" of the look of Zeiss lenses. Though Mamiya's optics are plenty sharp, but they have a very slightly different look to them. There is a difference, but it's a SLIGHT difference, and one which I think is very often overstated, frankly.

Well,....I see your point...and sure, I could afford to buy an H1D for myself but that would be a very poor business decision.. instead, a business entity of mine has already purchased Hasse kit for our uses.. Right now, I am able to get 72mg files with my 20D body in RAW mode.. which is more than enough for most of my needs....without having to convert to GF and multiply the file by up to 600x from there.. I don't have the studio to support buying what the H1D would be good for..instead, it would be way over kill for what I do for a living,...and way under kill since I'd have to get a whole new lens system, and it isn't as quick to handle as a pair of already owned 20D bodies and 12 lenses plus 2 converters that I already have for my digital system that can fire much quicker and handle much better than the Hasse H1D can.. I have pretty much no use for that camera...in fact, I am looking into getting a 4x5 camera, with 3-4 lenses and a digital scan back..which would be just perfie for my studio and location commercial needs..in the situations it would be used for.. Yep..

let's take it to PM from here... O.K.?
