Has anyone used these? i know they're really cheap lil things, but i can think of a whole bunch of applications for this as an accessory light, e.g.,to use for small highlights, as a "pepper" or whatever.

I may be in the minority here, but I use up to three similar small lights (mine are Nikon speedlights) in combination with my studio lights on all my shoots. One mounts in a 24" softbox and serves as a hair light. I sometimes use the other two for spot lighting in dark areas, or for creative effects on my backgrounds (usually with colored gels over them). Cheap and effective.

I've used 2 briteks as backups (though never needed), so mainly for highlighting and background fills without any problems for about 3 years or so. They are not very rugged but have been reliable. for the price they do an excellent job when you need a little light added here or there. mark
