This is what I was getting at in my post above. Beauty dishes are made for the strobes that they mount on. It is not always possible to adapt one and get it to work properly. When you try to adapt one, you may find that it doesn't work anything like what you expected. The Mola reflectors and some other lights use an opal (translucent) diffuser over the flash tube. Most other beauty dishes use an aluminum reflector. The Mola diffuser is adjustable to place it at different distances from the flash tube. Probably the simplest approach to improvising a beauty dish is to cover a large reflector with white diffusion fabric.
