We are in the process up upgrading our gear. Our two epson 3000s have been used and abused for long enough. (still worthy of a couple more beatings) We are upgrading to the Epson 4000. Anyone that uses this printer, are their any little quarks or whatever you have encounterd? I'm just curious. Also, do you like the RIP software with it?

Notice you never got an answer. I am looking at buying the 4000 but I am not sure I need the RIP they sell. I am not a graphic designer and from what I read the RIP is primarily for using Postscript etc.

Thanks for the reply Mike, It is arriving here tomorrow I can't wait. =) I didn't get the RIP. I'll be fine without it. I'll post back to how it turns out.

Will do Steve. Are you supplying Espon or 3rd party inks. Due to warrenties I'm only interested in Epson brand. =)

I have an epson 4000 and I am very satisfied with it. But if you need to print neutral black/white on it, you will need a RIP. The printer makes bw too warm without the rip. There is a nice RIP called QuadTone that I can recommend.

Had the printer now for a couple days..(Those of you that already own this know),..DAMN this thing rocks! Compared to my old 3000s that took 20-30+ minutes to print 17x22,..this one does them in 8! This machine is complemented VERY well with a roll of Premium Luster Photo Paper 250 (try it MikeH) you'll love it! I have yet to play with other papers but for now,..this will do me just fine. Anyone looking to plunk down a couple bucks for a larger format printer, take a good look at this one. One note, this bad boy is HUGE =)
