I can't remember ever using the 35-70 on a digital camera it is a limited range, on film it was great, the macro is only at 35MM.
The 100MM Micro is a great lens I use it in the studio for shallow DOF, and it is wonderful for headshots where detail is needed.

I use the 35-70 2.8 frequently with my D100.. It's an excellent lens although I don't use the macro features. I can do a macro test shot for you if you like.

Thanks for the reply, think Im gonna lean to the 105 cuz it does macro through 105 focal length versus just 35 on the 35 -70

Thanks again

I, too, shoot with the 35-70 and find the macro capabilities (even at 35mm) to be all I'm looking for... 95% of my shooting is people, so macro wasn't the highest thing on my list, but when you need it, you need it right now, and it's been a great "extra feature" for me.

It, and the 80-200 2.8 are the two lenses used most often in my kit... and I don't see that I'd gain much by having a fixed focal length lens.

I have the 105 Macro. While it's a great macro lens, I use the lens as my primary headshot lens. It really lets you back off the model when you're using it digital and you can still get plenty close. It's a prime lens and sharp as a tack.

Thanks, I think this confirms my thoughts on this lens, it should be able to do double duty for me, that is for some close ups and as for head shots
