I won't buy anymore 3rd party inks.
And now I have to learn about all this color space stuff and profile stuff. I know nothing about all that, and will attempt to start reading the post here on sRGB.

How do I switch my canon from sRGB to RGB ?

I don't know anything about Polaroid inks but it sounds as though they have a weak Yellow component and their blacks aren't printing a small enough dot. Profiling may help but I wouldn't go to the trouble.

I don't really understand the comments about using non-Epson papers but shying away from non-Epson inks. They are engineered together so changing either component is a potential problem... but it doesn't have to be.

We've got two Epson P2200 printers, one for art repro and the other for photos. Both have Media Street Niagara II bulk ink systems using Media Street G-Chrome inks pumped from 4 ounce bottles. Both of those printers work hard; I'm running fifty 13x17 prints on Somerset Velvet right now. With Ilford or Epson papers and Epson factory profiles we get accurate soft proofing in Photoshop and prints that satisfy the pickiest customers I've ever come across... artists. They want their color perfect and we can usually give it to them in less than five proof cycles.

It depends on what we're printing but we spend $110.00 on ink for the equivelent of about 400 8x10s. The bulk feed systems aren't perfect, I've blown a lot of time clearing bubbles from the lines and it can be pretty frustrating. The Ilford paper doesn't dry as fast as the Epson so I have the exit rollers rigged to not contact the paper as it comes out. If the paper (roll) has a sharp curl it will occasionally contact one of the heads (black usually) and start the ink siphoning, which is a big mess, but I assume that could happen with cartridges just as easily.

The nice thing about Media Street G-Chrome is that it's engineered (or reverse engineered) to match Epson's Ultrachrome inks. You can get a photo black or a matte black just like Epson. If you decide to go that route, Media Street will try to sell you on flushing the heads with a special set of $90 cartridges. I did that with the first unit and on the second we never loaded the epson cartridges but if I had to do it again, I'd bag the flushing cartridges and just run 20 or 30 personal prints instead.

Not only is the color a little off, its WAY off. And people who buy 2200 printers are most likely people who need the color to be perfect.
Polaroid SUCKS!

Now I now, learn the hard way, don't try and skimp on inks.

Those f*ckers!
