Hehe so cute. I am trying to learn.
I keep asking John as much as I can. But I feel bad bothering him so much. But when he tells me like, this and that at 45 degrees and this at 35 degree tip. I am just lost. So I have to find out! It's fun I think learning this stuff. And I want to be able to take really pretty pics like everyone else can. Diagrams help alot. I needed those the most.

You have a better eye than 99% of the people on here and you should get your butt out of Maine and start shooting for real very soon.

You should get to NYC and meet Tia Hunter, who is also a very sweet model (though she has no problem showing her thingie to us!) and an even better photographer.

You might also want to goggle Lisa Boyle, a Playboy model turned photographer out in LA, and Nancy Brown, a former fashion model who turned into the worlds best know beauty and lifestyle stock photographer. There are numerous female photogs who started as models and became very very successful. You have a great eye..don't let your talent get stale. The technical crap is not important.

If you ain't a ringer (or a GUY posting as a girl...I KNOW, it NEVER happens on the Internet) you got incredible potential. You come down to my studio someday and I'll put you to work shooting.

The only time my reflector gets to 45 degrees is when it's really cold out. (couldn't resist).

I thought you were kidding about me being a ringer. hehe oopsies
Thank you for saying I have a better eye than 99% of the people here. But I don't see it. Did you see my first attempt at taking a pic? It was horrible.
All the other people here do great stuff. That's why I am asking so many questions and finding out as much as I can. I really like this stuff. I want me to be able to post a pic some day and have people ew and ahh at it to. But I got to learn first. My first attempt showed me alot like, 14 dollars to develope the film and get a blurry pic means I wasted 14 dollars. Money is tight. So I have to learn more before I keep pressing the (new term for me) Shutter Release Button. Also thanks to BillBritain I learned Film Advance Lever and even though there isn't an N on this new contraption. I got an F1N, released in 1981,( which means I am holding a camera older than me and weighs about the same as I do) and it don't turn the lens like the other lighter better looking nikon one I have.
I think I like the Nikon one better. It doesn't have so many things to remember to do. But I will go read more and learn what I can.

hehe

I'm thinking that if Marti was a stripper, a lot dudes wallets would be empty. Not because she is showing her "thingie" for money, but because she has the boys salivating like Pavlov.

I'm with Glenn.....I think the girl is smart like a fox.

If I put up a post and said I had an old F1 and needed some help with because the "button thingy" only made the "clakety" sound once....people would be rolling their eyes and kickin me in the shinns.

I hope she keeps asking good questions though, because the boys are falling over themselves to help the girl out.

Quick.....Marti.....ask Glenn for some lighting tips about how he gets certain results....

I must say, I've been enjoying her post though.

As long as all the other models don't start bringing "thuggies" armed with gun "thingies" to shoots, all will be good.

Not to dissuade you from studio work, because there's a whole world to be discovered of course, and the technique is good for you. But there's a whole world as well that awaits you outside the studio, and it might be good for you to visualize pictures inspired by the places and the people in them for a while. No matter where or how you make pictures, making pictures is the real key. Just something you might want to consider.

Congrats on the F1. I have one that I got brand new... Takes great pics, and works even if the batteries are dead, although you'll need an external light meter. I still have mine, although I haven't used it in ages.

Enjoy it, and if you want lenses, look on eBay. I picked some up there for really good prices before I decided to go with a newer camera and start migrating to digital.
