Any recommendations on a good wifi service for extensive travel. Say, Europe, Alaska, NYC, etc. ?

I believe Starbucks uses Tmobile. I am just not that familiar with services available.

Why pay for wireless internet ? Just turn on your laptop and drive around a area and you will find lots of unsecured wireless networks. They are all over the place.

I am usually stuck in hotels. I don't really have the luxury of driving around looking for free stuff. Plus, I don't mind paying for service.

I totally understand what you are saying, but it wouldn't work for me.

Best, Darryl

Well in that case each hotel will have a service and all you do is pay them on a per day plan. At least the good hotels have it setup that way. I have used the service a few times..Most of the time in the US it cost about $10 a day.

T-Mobile and Boingo are both worth looking into as they offer domestic and international coverage. There websites provide specific location information.

I was in a Panerra's the other day and it was free. I know it's not a service but if you are out and in a jam, it's there. You just have to log in to their service which takes about a minute. The perk to using them is they have GREAT pastries and breads!!
