When I was at Rolando's workshop last year I borrowed a hot shoe adapter that he recommended. He recommended it because it regulated the power going into your camera to keep it safe. I think it was this adapter.

My D70 doesn't have a sync port, so I need an adapter. I have a cheap one I bought, but I'm a little scared to use it. Any suggestions?

Get the Wein. It is worth it to have the security of knowing you wont get that current going back and frying a sensor or something. Or...Look inot a set of pocket wizards. I have them and love them. No cords to trip over.

That would work, although I second the motion for radio slaves. Put the $50 toward some sort of radio trigger and you'll be much happier. That damn PC cord is a curse!

Ron

Do you have the AS 15? You should be OK. Nikons have much higher tolorence for voltages than Canon. Canon says there cameras should not have more than 6V -- but Nikon for the SLRs say that they can take up to 250V.

Thanks for the heads up. I have cheap no-name thing but was a little afraid to use it. I did call Humble camera and they have the AS-15 so I can get it tonight on the way home. Home where my AB800 and new light meter are waiting.

Ron,

If you have Alien Bees just use the Nikon AS-15. The Bees are only 6 volts anyway.

Greetings! Yes, that's the adapter you'll want to use for ensuring your camera wont become an expensive paperweight. I have two of them, just in case one gets zapped and the AS-15. I use them ONLY when I use the Metz 60CT-1 flash in conjunction with the D70. Amazing how nicely they work together especially in the MW mode for the flash-Motorwinder. For the studio flash, I would definitely go with the Pocket Wizards, as has already been suggested.
