I have been "playing" with a new MF scanner and am having difficulty scanning negatives. For some reason, I can't get skin tones quite right or to match the proof print (which has the tones nailed). Any tricks to the trade for setting up a channel for film?

Sample image is from a scanned negative. The skin tones are slightly warm and I can't quite get them perfect.

Thanks in advance!

dig around in the options or tools menus and see if you can turn on(off) auto color and exposure. I had the same problem, but changing those settings did the trick!

Good luck

Thanks Clint - I will experiment with dumbing down the scanner software and see if that helps!

You can bypass the "dumb" features of your scanner for basic color casts by making the ends of each channel in the histogram touch where it starts and ends. Try it in this order: green, blue, red. You can then compensate on the midtones in the master channel if you wish.

Thanks Clint! They were changed to blue in Photoshop. They used to be natural, but faded to green as she got older. The original image is below.
