Hey all!

Has anyone used the combination of a Fuji S2 and a Metz Mecablitz 45CL-4 flash together?

Naturally the camera manual says:
"Use only Nikon flash models. Other units may damage the camera's electrical circuit due to incompatible voltage requiremants (not conpatible with 250V or higher), electric contact alignment or switch phase."

I wanted to use the Metz due to it's power (GN160) for shooting fire scenes at night, but I certainly don't want it to blow-up the camera.

Any thoughts??

Thanks!

Check this thread out at Rob Galbraith: http://www.robgalbraith.com/cgi-bin/...&f=20&t=000005

Have you contacted Metz about your question? If it's not safe to use it, perhaps you can send it in and they can update the electronics so it is usuable?

Why don't you try it and see what happens?

As for me I'm a firm believer that companies that spend millions of dollars developing products and writing manuals probably know what they are talking about.

So when they say "Don't do that" I don't do that.

Don

The S-2 has a PC connector which will sync the camera at 1/125, check the indepth review at dpreview, as far as TTL I don't know, you may want to contact Fuji and Metz for that but it will work the other way.

Regards

Don

I was looking at that flash just yesterday, It says in large letters on the top of the Metz box that it's compatible with the F80 -- the European version of the N80 which is the film camera body under the S2. Sounds compatible to me.

You might consider using a Wein Safe Sync. It isolates your camera from the flash voltage. I use it when I'm not using a radio remote to trigger my flash units.

It sells for around 65 dollars, cheap insurance.

Thanks for the aid and advice!

Thanks to all who offered assistance!

It seems I can, indeed, use the two together without causing a tear in the time/space continuum. Now the question is simply getting them to work WELL together!

Practice, practice, practice...

Thanks Again!
