Anyone familiar with the Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 Autofocus? Here's a link to the lens on B&H. .

I'm looking for an inexpensive yet decent wide angle for my Canon Rebel...is the above lens worth my money? What would you recommend. Thanks,

It depends! If you are shooting digitally (300D), then this lens would not help you much if you are looking for wide angle coverage as after appling the 1.6 factor you are actually getting the equivalent of a 45mm lens (not very wide angle). I use a Tamron 17-35 on my Canon 20D and it gives me a nice wide angle range that works well for most subjects.
Cheers,
rfs

Don't forget that wih th ZOOM Factor on the Digital Rebel, this won't be as much of a Wide Angle.

EDIT:
Ah...someone beat me to it.

Yes,... but you will need to shoot everything in RAW mode as like the 28mm f1.8 and the 24mm f2.8 because of CA,...which you can reduce in RAW processing.. The 35mm is nearly CA free.. but isn't nearly as wide as the 28mm with the cropping factor, the 28mm lens becomes a decent "standard" lens..like what a 50mm lens would be... so, with that I'd strongly look into buying a 16-35mm f2.8 L lens eventually..

chromatic aberration.
Link to highly technical mumbo-gumbo

I use the 17-40 and I really like it if you can afford the difference in price.
