Anyone know of a place where I can have my Normal LH-2000 power pack converted to fire an off brand Ring Light...

OR

Someone who can convert a ring light to be fired from my Norman Power...

I don't have the light yet, looking into options other than buying a new system...

Thanks in Advance

Chris

You should be able to get a head converter cable from norman. For a slight fee of course. You could send in the head to get the plug changed but then if you ever change systems, you're back to square one.

Tell me that's really not the name of your town..........

Thanks, I will keep checking with Norman... or whoever I end up getting the light from...

And YEP... it is...

We moved to Georgia 9 months ago... and said NO WAY will we live in that town... sure enough we are living in that town called Cumming...

Even worse we live like 15 miles away from the real town, they just want our tax money...

There's a funny saying about how you know you're in Cumming, but way to sensitive to post here.

I was in the market for a ring light last year and I use alot of Norman gear. I talked to Silvino in LA (great flash repair shop).

His recommendation was to get the Profoto Acute ring flash and have it's connector modified. The Acute uses a 500 volt pack and the Normans (at least the 900 series like the 800D, 2000D adn 4000D like I have) are all 1000 volt packs. So here is what I did.

I bought the Acute 2 ring flash from Silvino modified to fit a Dyna Lite pack and bought a new low cost Dyna Lite pack using the discount that Rolando can get you from the factory. I ended up paying less than if I have bought the Pro 7 ring flash that would be necessary for the Norman packs.

Does any of that make sense ?

Silvino can be reached at (323) 962-7076

There is a shop in Canton, GA that could help you as well. John j. Morgan electronics at (678) 493-2923 He's made several adapter cables for me, including one that will adapt my ring flash to my Norman 200B battery powered pack for outdoor use.

E-mail me at rich@rich.org if you have any questions.

It's a nice little town though. I've got inlaws there. We come down a few times a year. Cynthia Kay has a real nice studio not far from there. Rolando does a few workshops a year there if you ever get the chance to go.
