I've been playing with different technique for changing a photo to give it a painterly quality. The photo posted here is one example using a rather convoluted process, but it seems to give an interesting result. The model is Lindsey. What do you think of this shot?
Also, if you like, I'd like to have comments on what you use for this type of effect.

Cheers,
rfs

It depends whether you want a posterized version, like in your pic, or you want a more 'traditional' painterly feel.

Let me know what you are after and I'll walk you through the process.

I used a similar technique to simulate the Andy Warhol look for a model friend of mine. I like the look for a change of pace.

The problem with Painter is you have to PAINT! that is you have to laydown every stroke your self. There are some automated processess but they are about the same as Photoshop. But If you want a Painting. Painter is the way to go. Here are some URLs you might find interesting.

I've done the posterization thing several times and it looks good on a water color paper ink jet print. But for this one I started out in posterization and then added stipple and lighting effects and some free hand painting to it.
