Go to Google and type the following -- linkwebsite address for the photo). Or just got to the Google homepage and click on Advanced Search (to the right of the input field). About 3/4 of the way down the page is the Page Specific Search for Links

Interesting. I never knew that existed. But it looks like you have to search for each image specifically, correct?

Google lets you search for all websites containing links to your specific URLs, so "YES" you would need to search for each picture ... or just do a search for the directory containing each picture.

Since a lot of search engines rank your website higher or lower based on "Link Relevance" (the number of "relevant" links to your website), this reverse lookup is a good way to see how many other websites are linking to you. if the number is small, you may want to get more websites to link to your website.

You could just check the web server logs.

Hackmans method is probably the only practical one.
The Google method would only work if they have indexed the photograph or page in question or the page that links to it. Even, then the "site:" method is no longer reliable and does not give accurate results. The reason is that too many people have been gaming Google using the "site:" command and so Google is now returning what I can only call random results with the use of the site command.
If you just look in your server logs though, you will see every hit to a given photo and you can see what the link was. Here is an example from one of my logs:

http://www.garageglamour.com/ubbthre...m&Number=92152 -> /a23.gif

which shows my 123 logo gif being hotlinked to by gg. Different styles of log files use different display methods.

Cheers,
rfs
