I set my camera to BW and when I download it, it comes up as a RGB. Do I convert it in PS or what ?

Hello,

If you are shooting in raw mode and converting the raw file in photoshop then it will come up as color and you will have to change it in photoshop. If you are converting the picture in the Canon program then it should be coming out black and white. The photoshop raw plug in has not been fixed to recognize the black and white setting the camera attaches to the raw file.

Tommy:

I like to shoot in RAW + large JPEG with the camera set for black and white. This gives me a color RAW file and a B&W JPEG at the same time.

Joe

PS. This was shot as a B&W IR with Cokin 87B filter on Fuji FinePix S3. While the Fuji will shoot RAW and a B&W JPEG, it won't do it at the same time.

I shoot in raw and in BW and I D/L in Zoombrowser. It still comes out in color. I send it to PS and use the saturation to 0. Is this how you get a BW?

You can do it that way but it doesn't give you the best B/W. There are hundreds of techniques but the better ones usualy involve using channels. You can see some of the best ones in Scott Kelby's books.

Cheers,
rfs
