Simple question about camera settings when you want to shoot in Raw mode. When I load the image that was shot in Raw mode I get a window that pops up giving me the option to change WB and Exp in Adobe Elements. So my question is this, What WB setting should the camera be in when shooting in Raw ? I set the camera in diferent WB modes and the raw files had diferent looks with each wb setting I used.

You should set the WB in-camera the same as if you were shooting JPG. That info gets saved in the metadata of the RAW file. In CS, those settings are referred to "As Shot". If you open the RAW file and start playing with the settings, it switches to "Custom", since you're changing the settings from "As Shot".

Also, I think the WB setting is used for the LCD preview, so it's always good to have it accurate for a better preview. Having said that, the RAW converter allows you to adjust the WB drastically without loss in quality.

Hope that helps.

Ok..That clears it up .. I just ordered photoshop cs.. Right now i just have elements and you are very limited in what you can do with a raw file.

Thanks..

I have the D70, the nice thing about shooting in raw is, that you can later change the white balance to your liking after the picture is taken, if you are not shooting in Raw, you can not change the white balance after the exposure. I usally try to use a white balance card before I take any pictures, but if I shoot in raw I can change it if i don't like the way it looks.
