This is my first time posting a question. I have recently switched to digital, and was wondering how to trigger my flash set up (Novatron) with the D70 since there is no synch cord.

Buy a sync cord adapter for the hot shoe on the camera. There are two kinds, "normal" - about $15.00 and "safe sync" which has a built in surge protector to prevent voltage from a power pack or monolight from getting to the camera - $50.00 to $75.00. I have used "normal" ones on about 10 different cameras over the past 10 years and have never had a problem that affected a camera, but I did get shocked through a camera while barefoot on a couple of occassions so it is certainly possible to get voltage through a sync cord which could damage the electronics in a camera.

You want the Nikon AS-15 adapter. That will allow you to plug a standard sync cord in. Or you can go wireless with a Pocket Wizard or other brand. Just make sure the voltae on your flash is safe.

As the man said...AS15 hot shoe adapter.

It's what I use with my D70, although one of my resolutions fro this year is going cordless.

Have the D70 and trigger Alien Bees with Pocket Wizards. Cordless is VERY nice.
