Always looking for a new toy - I mean tool.

Anyway, looking to buy one of those collapsible 5-n-1 reflector via mail order. Can anybody recommend a good brand/size/model? Brands to stay away from? Thanks.

I have the Wescott 4-in-1 but I don't think the brand matters a lot. Everyone seems to make them.

I prefer Wescott only because it comes in square shapes. Other than that, I would get one that would be the least expensive.

I have a Calumet model and it has proven very durable. Even though it spends most of its time all scrunched up it unfolds nicely and provides relatively even fill.

I would go with Westcott, or perhaps some photo flex they are ok. Go with a decent size, compact never is big enough, 42" min I say

I have "The Chameleon" brand 5 in 1. I think when I got it it was the only 5 in 1 around. I don't know if they are still around but it's very good. Though the white is so dirty it's more like an off white these days. Get a large one, it also works pretty well when it's folded up if you need a smaller size.

They are easy to handle and big enough to handle most situations.

Now think about what's going to hold it in position. One of those arms that can hold the reflector clamped on a light stand or tripod will make your life a lot easier unless you always have several people around.

Thanks all. Appreciate your input. I'll hit the store tomorrow - hopefully the rain will stop long enough to get some photos. Who ever said it never rains in Southern California!

Hey if anybody is interested, I found a 42" 5-n-1 disk at Calumet for $43 USD. Such a deal!

I got a 40x60 5-in-1 reflector from Amvona's eBay store. They have several sizes listed here. You can also buy one directly from their Web store if you don't like auctions. --Randy
