Why would I use a reflector over a fill flash?
I LOVE JT's work and have gone to one of his workshops (a must) and never asked him WHY do you use a reflector over a fill flash.... \

Because I FEEL like it.

It's 'more' natural and will balance better. Reflectors don't use batteries. Reflectors create larger catch lights to pop those eyes.

I still use actual fill flash from time to time. Overcast days for instance. When the model has sensitive eyes on sunny days.

I will use flash as my main light also when I want to keep the sky blue or the background darker by overpowerimg the natural light.

These are my quick things that come to mind.

well said, JT. i guess it's true what they say about you prefering to use your head for more important things than growing hair.

seriously though, doing things you just "feel like" doing sometimes don't work as well as you think they might, but sometimes the absolute best stuff you'll ever shoot will come from simply doing what you "feel like" doing rather than what sometimes might "seem" right to do.
