Stu might be right, but it doesn't explain why one print is different than the next one. If nothing changes by you, then is the printer changing its driver settings back to default on the second one?

Ohh Stu, he mentioned OSX, thus he is on a MAC.

Also, as for the paper, it is a sort of misconception that Epson printers print best on Epson paper. In the latest Photoshop User mag, they tested a bucket full of paper on an Epson 2000, printing several different photo "types (B&W, Portrait, high contrast, etc.) and the Epson paper finished THIRD. The best paper was the MOAB Kokopelli, and the next best was a Konica Minolta paper if you can believe that.
