It's not a hard set up.

It gives the ring light effect in the eyes.

Thank you!, Do you have any examples of this setup in use. Problem I see using this setup is that you cant shoot through the light like you would a normal ring light. Would love to see some results using this. Thank you again

You can use a hotshoe flash if you want, or you can have the soft box next to
you as well. I also have a mirrored bare-bulb flash that produces a ring light
that was custom built but I have to get this out of storage.

-------------- I haven't used these lights in about 15 years. But the effect
is the same. If you want the "simulated" effect, as I mentioned, just keep
the power low but make sure your light outputs at least 2.5 stops greater
than your key light at the point of origin, not at the subject.

This creates the "illusion" that was asked for.

I have dozens of "dinky's" that I used to use specifically for catchlights
or surface lights for miniature illumination(for those into special-effects from the old days).

The human eye has a reflective surface so you don't have to worry about a low power light influencing the image.
