I AM using Epson photo paper, but I am also telling it what type of paper I'm using. So, you may be onto something there. I considered trying that, but thought that they wouldn't put the option there if it wasn't necessary. Now, I'm going to try it since you had good results.

Thank you for that thought!

Hey David,

While answering another post I noticed a link on this site (http://www.russellbrown.com/tips_tech.html) that is specific for the Mac called "Printing from Photoshop CS". Since I don't own a Mac, I haven't watched it, but it might help you. In this case, it is specific to the Epson Stylus Photo 2200. Not the printer you have, but some of the technique might translate over.

Good luck!

Earl

The resolution quality is beautiful, but it is still dark. I honestly left it alone for the better part of the weekend, so, I'll have to review the links you sent me (I did a little, but I had company for new years, so I couldn't focus on it) and play with it more tomorrow.

Hi, David

I have an R800 that I'm using with my Mac G4, and I was having the same problem until I read somewhere (forgot where, sorry) that you should turn OFF Apple's ColorSync management when using Photoshop. Photoshop does the color management/color space conversion for you, so throwing Apple's color management on top of it just muddies the waters.

Here's what works for me: First, in Photoshop I use the "Adobe RGB (1998)" color space as my default working space. When printing, I "Print with Preview" and set "SPR800 PremGlossy BstPhoto.icc; Perceptual; Use Black Point Compensation" as my printer space. Photoshop will then convert the working color space to the printer's color space before it sends it to the printer.

In the print dialog box, I choose "Epson Photo R800 (FW:Standard)" as my printer and "Photoshop Premium Glossy" as my paper. Then under "Copies and Pages" pull down the menu to "Color Management" and choose "Off (No color adjustment)" to disable Apple's attempt to RE-convert the color space. Hit "Print" and be amazed!

If you're still not happy with it, you can "fudge" the printing by choosing "Color Controls" instead of "Off" (under "Color Management") and tweaking the Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, and/or RGB manually between Photoshop's output and the printer.

Hope this info helps. --Randy

Thank you for the suggestions! I am going to try this and see what happens. I think I am turning off the redundant color management, but I'll double check that.
