This image looks fine on my screen but I viewed it on my brothers computer and it looked washed out. Who has the bad monitor? If its me what do you guys recommend?

Model is Summer from Killeen from this past August....Shes a great model to work with, as were the others that I worked with that day.

There are a number of relativly cheap monitor calibration devices available which alow you to profile your monitor so that what you see on you screen is what you get on a print... whether the print is from an inkjet on your desktop or out sourced prints from a lab..
Guess it depends whether variations in color and density are important to you and your clients.
The cost of our simple little Spyder plus Photocal software is equal to under a weeks lab costs... so for us calibration pays... but every photographers workflow and requirements are different.
The other advantage for us is we run two workstations, both of which are calibrated weekly,. If a job is moved from one machine to another for any reason the image still looks the same

Monaco OptixXR
The best deal for the money.... I use it and it works great.

The Spider has MANY problems to it... so I would not get that one....

Was one of the computers a Mac and the other something else?
used to be the Mac calibrated their monitors differently. (gamma 1.8 vs. 2.2) what ever that means.

I highly recommend the Gretag-Macbeth Eye-One display. It is very easy to use and very accurate. I had the spyder and agree it gives inconsistent results.
