Hi guyz. I have always had a problem with CD's being compatible with other computers. I am a student, and I would burn CD's , but when I took them to class, they did not work in the schools computers. These were CD's that were not closed, but were formatted using the same software I had at home (ROXIO). The proffesor said that CD's were a very non-standard type of media and that this was a common problem.

Anyway...I have since bought a new computer which uses SONIC software for burning. I do alot of TFCD work, and I have not had any problems with the models being able to view the CD's, once I have closed them. I close the CD and then I try them out on 2 other computers before I give them to the model.
I have notice though, that on one of the computers, it does not always work. I see a folder where pix should be, but if you open it it says that the folder is empty. The other computer I test it out on only has a CD reader, and it always work on that one.

Does anyone have any experience with this and can help me getting the CD's to work in any drive? I have had 2 models who could not view and would like to do something to make this less of a hassle.

Any help appreciated , THANKS!

I had a similar problem.
(A long story shortened)
What I did was I started burning the CDs at a slower speed (around 16x speed) and made sure that it closes the cd. Now about 98% of the time. I have happy campers when they go to view their cd. But remember you cant please everyone 100% of the time. The problem MIGHT be the model's computer not yours.

I viewed your webpage quickly and I must say to you, "Very VERY nice photo work" You are progressing marvelously. You should be very proud of your work. And I must add that You look beautiful in front of the camera.

I've had much better luck with Sonic's Record Now than my friends have with Roxio. The key is to make a "data disk" rather than any of the otehr options. Occationally, Windows will shove it's way past the Roxio set up and start it as a Windows CD - which can't be read on many other computers. Can't tell what the deal is on Roxio -- maybe they're a little too close to Microsoft?

I agree with John, burn them at a lower speed (this is true when burning an audio cd for the car as well). I found that going with 8x usually works in every Computer CD player still in use. When having problems with an audio cd in someone elses car, the 8x usually works there as well.

I used Roxio Easy CD Creator V6. I've been using them for years and they work just fine. Speed is the major issue for multi-computer compatibility. Burn at a slower speed to get more consistent cross computer results.
Cheers,
