I am suffering from sticker shock at the moment! I'm a newbie who has pretty much used one film (Kodak Max 400)for the 18 months I've been serious about this hobby. I've signed up for Rolando's Texas Shoot Out next month and rec'd his recommendation for film. I paid $12.95/roll for the Kodak E100SW and $7.95/roll for the Fuji Astria locally. I know I can get the Kodak cheaper online (and plan on doing so for the workshop) but does anyone have other alternatives. I know digital is one answer but I just bought my Elan 7 so that is out. Has anyone used Fota slide film?

I use eBay a lot for film purchases. Astia is my choice, and buying in lots of 20 can represent big savings. I try to bring it in at $50/20 roll box. I 'm successful enough in bidding to keep my freezer well stocked. With film in the freezer, you can pretty well ignore the expiration date. I'll be at the Texas Shootout, so I can talk to you more then.

I have also ordered my film from B & H photo in New York, and have gotten really good prices. You might want to check them out.

I also purchase most of my film from B&H. If it's last minute, I have no choice but to buy in town, but if I'm stocking up I buy from B&H. If you buy imported film, a pro-pack (5 rolls) of Portra 160NC will run about $16 and a brick of Fuji Reala will run about $30. You can also buy 20 packs of Provia 100F or Astia for $84. Hope that saves you some cash in the future.

Hi Drew,

You could also check out http://www.uniquephoto.com as they have great prices on film as well. It's $5.61 per roll of E100SW from them in packs of 20. Best of luck whatever you decided upon! Happy shooting!
