is HostRocket.com.. Great prices.. great features for the prices.. So reliable that I frequently forget that I even have a web host.. They also host my e-mail.

Why did I post this? I'm just so happy with them that I had to share it with you.. I'm in no way affiliated with them except that I am a customer of theirs..

Thanks,
Israel

I use start logic... for about 7 or 8 bucks a month you get 60GB of transfer, 2GB of storage, all the standard php/mysql/webmail/yaddayaddayadda... they run specials all the time where you can get like the first 3 months for a buck, etc. They seem to be highly rated in the industry as well... also no affiliation, just fyi
...but these days bandwidth is so cheap that you can get a home on the web for a good price alomst anywhere. Service level and value adds are what differentiated the few from the masses. I'm not saying that start logic has that... other than 24/7 tech support, I haven't seen anything that would make me recommend them over anyone else. Most of the seemingly "good deals" are shared hosting for the masses. If your host provider is mission critical (ie. the food on your table relies on your ecommerce solution), then you might consider a top rated heavy hitter like rack space.

just a few nuts from the peanut gallery...

Actually, mine is mission critical by your description.. and getting more so almost daily..

I do have experience in very large scale environments. I know this will be an unfair position (to RackSpace) but I chose not to use them based on my experiences with GarageGlamour.com. I met John Engates I believe last year in an informal setting. I am very impressed with his knowledge and the company so I have only praise for them. Again, I know my evaluation of RackSpace was unfair but that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

There is a balance that must be struck when choosing vendors.. HostRocket fits my needs very well at the moment, but in time, everything does change.

Thanks for the feedback...

There are many exceptional bargains in web hosting. But there are also many gotchas. For those of us who may from time to time post a nude photo, keep in mind that this violates the terms of about 90% of the hosting sites out there (and especiallly the bargain ones). What typically happens is you build up a site and start getting results from it and then "bam" it gets shut down when the host notices the violation of their terms. This can happen, for example, when a competitor contacts them with a complaint about a nude photo.
To be safe, always contact the bargain provider and tell them what you do and show them sample of your work and get a response from them whether your work is within the terms of hosting service. This will save you a lot of grief down the road.

By the way, HostRocket forbids nudity and can shut your site down without notice if they so choose.

Cheers,
rfs

Yep.. you are correct, however, I give the benefit of the doubt to everyone here about terms of service and also deciding for themselves what provider fits their needs..Terms of Service is something you should check no matter who the provider is and no matter what their prices are.. I don't believe any real research has been done as to the relationship between terms of services and pricing.

I am aware of HostRocket's terms and comply with them.. I did my research when I selected them.. In addition to price I needed a host I knew I could count on.. HostRocket is the right vendor for me.. I have no desire to make a business out of nude photography so if I have some that I want to share I'll put them on GG. That's part of the reason I'm a paid member.

I've been seeing messages from people looking for a good host at a good price. HostRocket fit my needs and so I chose to forward that on to others..

Thanks for your response..
