Has anyone used a AS-15 (pc connector) on their D70? Any problems? I read that it shouldn't be used with flashes over 6v. I use Vivitar 285s and 283s in umbrellas, one connected with a PC cable and the others w/ peanut slaves.
How do you know if your flash is over 6v?

I could really use some advice. I've been reading the site for a while and its been an excellent resource.

Thanks in advance.

I've used it with Nikon flashes and have not had any problems.

I always took Nikon's warning to heart and got a safe sync for their cameras. Then I talked to a former repairman who told me he almost never had a camera come in from the use of a hot shoe PC connection. Nikon seems to be very conservative with this and "tested" CompactFlash makes and sizes.

Trigger voltages for most major flash units

Great informative site. I had it bookmarked for a long time in hopes someone else might need it.

Like all Nikons, the D70 is safe to 250V

Check the manual, it's on page 186.

As for the AS-15, it's a simple pass-through conversion. I've never heard of an AS-15 being fried from overloading. I doubt it's rated any less than their cameras.
