Anyone up tonight that has the standard qt40 charger from quantum? I recently purchased what I was told to be a new quantum turbo battery charger, but I am thinking it is not the right one. I have been charging it for 2 days and the lights are not doing as they should. Plus the fact that it is "NOT" new and doesn't match the numbers I have seen on the real thing. Plus the charger I received is not the same as in the picture. ARRGGGG. The output of the charger I have is 12V DC 400 ma.

Would some kind soul please tell me that the output on a real turbo charger is much higher and it is causing my troubles???

Thanks,

Mine says:

QUANTUM T-16
Plug in class 2 transformer
For Quantum Turbo battery
Model no. DV-1250
Input: 117vac 60Hz 12W
Output: 12VDC 500mA

I hope this helps. Mine's been a little spotty lately, too.

QT-40 Plug in transformer for Quantum Battery
Model # DV-1250
Input 117VAC 60Hz 12W
Output 12V DC 500 A

Thats what mine says on the charger. Have you had your battery looked at? In the 10 yr life of my QT Turbo I have had to have it re-celled twice. First time I charged it for 4 days w/o any lights doing anything on the battery. Called Quantum and they told me about it having to be re'celled. Somthing having to do with memory of the battery and me not discharging it everytime or something to that effect as best as I re-call. Quantums' repair page is Quantum repair Hope this helps.

Don't know if this'll help at all, but here's my quantum battery charger story:

I have a standard Turbo battery and a 2X2 Turbo as well. Made the mistake of using the QT40 charger on the 2X2 in the middle of shooting a wedding and ended up sending the 2X2 back to Quantum for $75 worth of repair.

The only advice I can offer is make sure the battery and charger are supposed to be used together! I figured heck they're both Quantum Turbo batteries, and both the chargers came from Quantum they must be interchangeable...NOT!

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies,
I spoke to the guy I got the charger from and they rework Quantum batteries. He mentioned that it might have a dead cell and that he would check it all out for me so I will probably let him do it. I did get it to power the 550 but only at a lower power setting for the flash and only a limited amount of flashes. So it does seem to be a little less powerful than it should be. All in all I guess it is still a good deal, 127 for a used turbo and worst case another 50 for a new cell.
