Hmm... don't know if this was covered already... but if it was salt water.....it's very dead..

Water...spilled on it...hmmm... strange.. I covered a swimming tournament once with my S2 film body that got splashed..bad.. it did this goofy dance with the LCD panel...and I quickly turned it off, ran out to my car,...took the batteries out of it..and thankfully, I happen to have one of those tiny screwdriver sets with me for fixing the screw mounts on my lenses and lens mounts which for some reason, come loose all the time...I disasembled the body as much as I could without damaging it from there...and placed it on the passenger seat...cracked all the windows a bit and let it dry out.. (this is why I always carry at least two cameras on me for back ups)..and went back to work.. I cam back when I was done,...placed this thing into a bag from McDonalds..and brought it over to the repair guy..who blew air into it...cleaned the contacts..and screwed it back together..and it worked just fine with the exception of a little fog in the LCD.. which wasn't there after a month later..

...(then I sold it to some guy who never knew about that)..

I'm sorry to hear about your camera. Honestly, I think it's time to put the poor thing to rest and get a new camera. I would look into possibly some sort of insurance for it, just in case of instances like this.

There is a thread over at dpreview.com that talks about an incident with a camera being dropped in saltwater and how they saved it.

Here is the link to that thread
