[ QUOTE ]
Since color management is abandoned when printing digital negatives, profiling the printer isn't important.

[/ QUOTE ]

1. This was posted on another site. Is this statement correct?

2. Whats a precision digital negative (PDN) for contact printing? The context of the thread this statement was made.

What site said this? And in what context was this line in reference to?
Taking one line out of a paragraph is not very helpful.

If you are just making a digital contact sheet, I would not
think color management would be necessary, just like in the
darkroom when you do a contact sheet. Accurate color is not
a prerequisite.

We would need more info. Why not post the whole thing so we
can see if it makes sense.

Not knowing the context, it's hard to say what the writer was talking about. All of the work I've seen in creating digital negatives for contact printing is black and white -- usually platinum/palladium. So, for black and white color profiling wouldn't be necessary...
