I'm, thinking of one of these two flash meters...any comments? The latitude feature on the minolta seems nice...is it as accurate as the sekonic?

I tried getting the Sekonic from Mamiya's student program and I still hadn't recieved it for nearly a month after ordering it. I finally cancelled the order and re-ordered through KEH. Got it in three days. Same price as the student $218.

If you go to the Sekonic web site you can download the manual in .pdf format. I'm sure you can do the same for Minolta's. I made my decision by reading the users manual for the Sekonic. I have still not used it as I only got it a few days ago. I have however used other students meters in my class and found it very easy to understand.

Hope this helps.

I use the Sekonic and am very happy with it.. I don't have any complaints.. A really nice feature for me is the PocketWizard support..

Most meters can be calibrated to match your camera so out of the box accuracy isn't much of an issue in my opinion. I believe it comes down to getting the features you need, ease of use, and price.

The Minolta manuals are at Minolta Flash Meter VI Manuals

i have a minolta VI. i'm happy with it. it's no frills, easy to use, gets the job done. you can get a spot meter attachment for it if you need one and it also has a cine mode. of course, i'm now considering a set of pocket wizards and thinking the sekonic w/the pw add-on would be cool. but then, i might get the adorama wireless radio slaves (as i don't think i i'll need multi-frequency capability) and it won't be an issue.

As long as it's consistent, EVERY meter is accurate. That's what personal testing is all about. You test your results against your meter and set your meter accordingly.

It's inconsistency you have to worry about.
