Once upon a time, before I upgraded to PS CS, I was able to have batches run "Save and Close" without having to mash the Save button for every image that hadn't been previously saved in PS.

Somehow, I've lost track of how to set the batch dialog to do this...

There is the "Override Action Save As command" option, but checking that, of course, does not save the image as modified.

I have over 1500 images that I need to run the same batch on, and I'm not particularly interested in having to sit here and mash the Save button that many times...

Thanks all for your help!

FYI, Photoshop CS, Mac System 10.3.5

Make sure when you set your action....that you open and save in the same folder that you want to run the action on....I ran across that when I built an action and then tried to use it on a different folder ....so i created a set of folders called "work" and built the actions on it...then jsut drop in the files I needed to work on into that....and the actions ran fine...

Work
Raws
Tiffs
Jpegs
SmJpeg
Web

Folder breakdown is above and can be modified for whatever you need....but that pretty much covered any actions I need to build....

I was getting very angry having to do this as well, especially since some of my actions didn't need me to sit and hit save every for every file.

I have since discovered the problem. If I record the action with "Save", you have to mash keys for every file. If I record the same action with "Save As", it does it all for me... Experiment a bit, should work.

Hope that helps a bit.

Adobe has a PDF document on digital workflow automation using Photoshop CS here: digital_photo_workflow.pdf

Page 4 of this document says: "For even faster batch processing, you can download a free Photoshop CS script addition called Dr. Brown’s Image Processor 2.0 that allows you to go directly from raw files to processed JPEG, PSD or TIFF files. This process doesn’t require actions, however it doesn’t offer the full range of functionality that actions provide." That free s'ware download is at: www.russellbrown.com

Hope this info helps. --Randy

AHA! Bingo!

I remember someone's rant about this issue quite a while back, but didn't remember WHERE I read it...You must be the one...

Thank you James!

And thanks everyone for your suggestions!
