Or you could spend a little in between and get a 10D

I agree with you... If you can budget it, do it! ...if you can't, you can buy a used 10D body from someone who is upgrading to the 20D...for about the same price as you'd pay for a new Digital Rebel..

....about the new color........I prefer black...but it's only a color....when the 10D was introduced.....actually just before it was officially released, it was on display in some photography show in Greece....well, some guy saw this and reported his findings but said that it was a "silver" body style....and like 3/4 of the dpreview forum, were all upset at the idea of buying a silver camera...a day or two later, someone posted pictures of the 10D....and they were all of a very black camera....the silver camera was just a prank.....and a very good one indeed.. Silver, black,....it still does the same things..

I was just talking to a friend of mine who owns a multi million dollar photography company ....they do mostly school pictures, school sports, weddings and portraits....well, after showing him my 20D today, he was VERY impressed...and is looking into buying "twenty" 20D bodies for his business!

One of the things I really like about the 20D...is the very thing that made me really upset is the buffer for shooting RAW images.... sure, shooting in large fine jpeg is nice for up to 24 shots or so...but shooting 9 RAW images in a row with the 10D was an advantage.....or at least I thought so.. the thing is is that before you can review the images agter you fill up the buffer on the 10D, you are stuck with not being able to see squat...and waiting ....and waiting ...for the slow buffer to sort everything out..with the 20D, even before the images are fully filed, you can preview them right away.. and another thing, ...after the buffer fills up on the 10D, you have to wait for a much longer time before you can take another picture than on the 20D... the best way I can think of describing it is like...you have a pair of sinks...and you fill them up with water...the sink for the 10D is full at the 9 gallon mark...while the 20D's sink full line is at the 6 gallon mark...well, it looks by the site of it that the sink that can hold the most water is the better system... but for some reason, it takes something like four times longer to drain out...because the drian pipe is a lot larger on the 20D sink...allowing more water to pass through much quicker...thus emptying it's sink out while the 10D's sink is still draining, you can fill it up agin.....and while it's still draining, you can keep on shooting away! So, someone like me who burns out his studio lights because he shoots 1,021 images in a three hour shoot....(including wardrobe changes and make up touch ups, can shoot RAW without having to be slowed down at any time because of the @#$%^#@# damn buffer filling usp on him.. that right there is enough reason for me to upgrade to the 20D!
