I recently got a Canon Digital Rebel from Jason over at Unique. After using it for a while I descided to throw the unencoumbered firmware on it. In looking for the firmware I came across this hack of sorts. The cap from a pringles can can be used for custom white balance instead of those $20 gizmos pedalled in magazines. Now I'm a sucker for a good deal and a hack so I grabbed can. It worked better than I thought! Here's the results. Photo one is AWB, the second is Pringles balanced. Both were taken under a tungsten light with a reflector, Lens was a 50mm F1.8 at f1.8, about 1/20sec iso 400, the only photoshop was crop and resize.

I didn't see this technique posted anywhere on the site so I thought I'd share. Enjoy!

Coffee filters also work. I was think about buying an expodisc a couple of months ago and while investigating it, I found the pringles trick and the coffee filter. Both work very well and saved me over $100 bucks. BTW, I wouldn't recommend either of these if you are shooting color critical work. The Pringles lids seem to be a little cool and the coffee filters warm.

You might also try just setting your WB to cloudy that will also give you a warmer than normal WB.
