I was just wondering if anyone on this forum used a Nikon D1 for portrait or nature photography? I know most use it for sports and news related photogrphy. If you have, what's the biggest you have blown the image up 8x10 perhaps 11x14 or larger? I have a chance to buy one cheap and was curious of what people thought of the camera.

Thanks

I have a D1 and have made decent 11x14s and good 8x10s. Shoot raw because the cameras software does not render color that good, and with the raw format you capture in 12 bit color that gets interpolated up to 16 bit when you use Nikon Capture Editor. The posted image was done with the D1.

Thanks Glenn67 for the input. I too like to shoot Raw format. I like the quality much better. I also have a D70 that I like using as well. I was considering the D1 for a good backup to the D70. Just haven't made up my mind yet.
Thanks again!
