I have about 300 images that all need a text layer added in the exact same location.

I have tried to build an action to accomplish this but it never works right. So any of you PS gurus wanting to help here can do so by giving me a step by step on this cuz I am appearantly leaving out a step somewhere.

here is what I have tried to do.

all my images are 3072x2048 @ 180 Dpi
I made an image that has the same attributes that has a text layer with alpha channel.
the problem i have is that my action always points to "previous image" well what happens is that the first image gets the text layer, but never centered, but the rest of the images dont get the text layer

Clint:
It is pretty straight forward. Under actions right click on the right arrow and select new set. Name it "add text" or whatever you want to call it. Then hightlight that set in the actions tab and right click again on the arrow and select "add new action". Click your options on the new action then click record. Go back to the image and type your text, then move it to the location you want, click layer, flatten image. Then click the square "stop record" button on the actions palette. Then you can run your images through a batch processing and apply the new action you just recorded in the batch. Hope this helps.

You're trying to make it more difficult.

Same text, same font, same color, same location? A walk in the park.

Just open an image, setup a new action (as Bob detailed), do what you want to it, flatten, stop recording action, and there you have it.
