Those of you looking at buying some new light stands may want to consider the SystemPRO LS-2's.

I have a couple of these and they are working out real well with my Alien Bee's

Besides being stable using the large soft box on the Light Gear boom they have the added safety feature of being spring dampened. Granted it's not the same a air dampened but for the money it's a good substitute.

These well made stands reach to 9 feet and cost $50 each at the Camera Co in Madison, WI.

Check out your usual supplier or go the distributors website at promaster.com

Since the website doesn't seem to think its important to tell us, can you fill us in on:

1) how short will they get when set up
2) how short will they get when not set up and ready to pack
3) how much to they weigh
4) how much do they cost

Thanks for the lead. I just picked up some White Lightnings and could use some lightweight, compact stands.

Thanks

[/ QUOTE ]

1) 39" 42" with the legs at the maximum spread
2) 39"
3) 4 lb.s
4) I paid $50 at the Camera Company here in Madison Wi
5) 4 1/2 inches in diameter when folded up.

One other point I should add I would recommend using some additional weight at the base if you are using the boom. I use a Scuba diving weight bag filled with buckshot.
