Could someone please tell me how to insert the copyright symbol in front of my date and name on my images. I use a PC. And according to 'photoshop user' magazine. I have to click on the text icon and press (alt-0169). I have tried this. I have pressed the keys all at once. I have pressed them individually. And still no damn symbol. Please help.

You have to use the number pad. The the numbers above the letters will not work.

Get the text tool and put the cursor where you want it, then hold alt on the right side of the key board and hit 0169 on the number key pad. Make sure your paint color is different than the background or it won't show even though it's there. This is for a PC computer. Apple,...I dunno?
Hope this helps, Ronc

Thank you. You were right about the number pad. I have been using my laptop to do a lot of my editing. I tried out the number pad on my desk top and all is well.

An addition to others comments.. In Photoshop you can create an action and assign a keystroke to do this so you don't have to.. I assigned F12 key on mine..

Find THIS on your computer: CHARMAP.EXE

It's a 'ASCI character map' for different fonts.

It has the following 'unusuals' ready to cut and paste into any program, including graphics editors.

MUCH easier than learning the 'hot-keys' for each of these.

© € ‚ ƒ „ … * ‡ ˆ ‰ * ‹ Œ ™ š › œ Ÿ ¡ ¢ £ ¤ ¥ ¦ ¦ ¨ ª « ¬ * ® ¯ ° ± ² ³ ´ µ ¶· ¸

¹ º » ¼ ½ ¾ ¿ À ? Â Ã Ä Å Æ Ç È É Ê Ë Ì ? Î ? ? Ñ Ò Ó Ô Õ Ö × Ø Ù Ú Û Ü ? Þ ß *

á â ã ä å æ ç è é ê ë ì * î ï ð ñ ò ó ô õ ö ÷ ø ù ú û ü ý þ ÿ

Now, copy all of these into a notepad or word document, save the file, and copy and paste when you need them.

Windows has in Start/Accessories/system tools a nice little utility called
"Character Map" Kurt mentioned this but how many of you are still looking for it?

Its very simple and I use it all the time

Just find your symbol in the font you select, then select the symbol then ctrl-c, then go to the program you are using and paste.

Hope this helps,

Stu

Remember also that not all fonts have the copyright symbol mapped in. You can type it all day long and all you'll get is zip.

photoshop has a shape tool... the copyright symbol is one of them (altho you can't change whatever font it is). you can then put the copyright symbol in a layer, make a mask with it, emboss it with a filter, change its opacity, etc.... then do the same with some text which you'll have to rasterize before using the filter.
