I always see posts regarding other lenses for Canon, but I haven't seen anything regarding Sigma lenses? Any recomendations on whether or not I should buy one (I've spent allot this year on equipment or I'd just buy Canon L glass).

Canon L series lenses will always have a great review to them, they are amazing. My personal opinion on the generic front is that I specifically like the DI series of Tamron lenses, they are designed for cameras with smaller then 35mm sensors and when push comes to shove its these little things that help them achieve a high image quality.

Personal fav is the tamron 28-75 2.8 DI lens. Also very inexpensive considering and remarkably light weight

Cool! When you say "inexpensive considering". What would that 28-75 2.1 DI go for?

Ya, Ya, I know, but with all the money I've spent on equipment this year, I can either wait to afford the Canon glass or get a "generic" lense now....maybe. See, I just bought a 10D, a MAC G-5 with 500gigs of hard drive and 4 gig of RAM, the big monitor, a laptop, and a cmaera bag for my 2 cameras. Soooo, my budget for the year is, well, I blew it a long time ago actually.

Just thought that I'd drop in and say that Nikon glass is socond to none. Sigma is pretty good though. I'd buy Sigman before Cannon, but that might have to do with my Nikon FE body.

quit your wineing .... for my studio stuff...( with the limited space I have and yes, I shoot with a pair of 10D bodies)... I shoot with my 35mm f2.0 for "full lengths"... my 50mm f1.4 (recently upgraded from my f1.8 version) for 3/4 length shots...and my 85mm f1.8 for head and shoulder shots... those right there cost me less than 900.00 for all of that..If I just went for the 50mm f1.8, knock off 220.00 bucks.. and I am set for a lot of the work I do with three outstanding lenses.. The cost of my 28-70mm f2.8 L lens was 1500.00 back in 1997.. and the three mentioned lenses are all better. The 28mm f2.8 lens is also a fine lens to own...and really cheap too.. Oh, I use my 135mm f2.0 L for close ups and that has come down quite a bit in price as well.. I paid 1020.00 for that in 2000...and now it has come down some two hundred bucks..

Tip... be like my friend Dan... who has a number of great cameras and lenses...all used! He bought them used..and just because a lens is used...or not the current gizmo on the shelf, doesn't mean that it is incapable of helping you to capture some amazing shots...because back when they were on the shelf ...beinfg the latest gizmos,...great photographs were being taken with them... I still have my old 300mm f2.8 USM L... (non IS version)..and I probably won't replace it unless it needs replacing.. oh, and I paid some 4500.00 for it brand new back in 1997..and today, you can find them in better condition than what mine is right now for mid 2K's..

So, put a Canon on your Canon...you'll be more happy that way...believe me!

LOL... a lot of people buy Sigma over Canon...and that is why sports photographers all use the black Sigma lenses...right?? WRONG!!!

Sigma my ass... Canon has some fine glass...and if you think that Nikon is second to none, well,.....what ever..
