I am in the market for a new photo printer and was wondering if
anyone had any suggestions. Something that is as good quality as
I can get on a college student's budget. All replies are appreciated.
Thank you!

Don't get a Epson C84 - the images will appear contrasty.

I like the Epson 777. A lot of my clients like the quality particulary on Epson Lustre. Then I would tell them the prints came from a cheapo 777. However, the printer is more than a couple of years old and probably not in production. The one I have is about to conk out.

I have an Epson 2200 - awesome printer - too expensive for the college budget.

I'm not sure where your budget is, but the new Epson R800 is getting great reveiws. Prints up to 8.5 x 11. I'm waiting to see if they bring out a wider format printer with the same print engine.

I currently have a hand-me-down Photo 2000P. Does nice prints, but probably out of your budget.

When I was in need of a new printer I contacted the people I by most of my paper from and asked them what printers could take the most kinds of paper especially the types I like to use. For me the epson 2200 was the best choice but Canon was a close second. Oh, by the way, I us Red River Paper Company in Texas.
Respectfully
Robert

Look for the Canon i900D. It's under $200. The best thing is that the ink tanks are under $12 -- and they last a while. Lexmark and HP are famous for inexpensive, easy to use printers -- but they'll eat you alive in ink costs!

Hey thanks everyone, that was a big help!
I'm off to see what I can find today.
I'll also take your advice on investigating
ink costs, etc...
