I have a 4x5 but rarely use it, and when I do, mostly for architecture and still life. I admire your patience and deep pockets to attempt to shoot glamour with large format, but the results should be amazing. You'll also blind your models with the strobes, you'll have to shoot around f/16 or above
What lens are you shooting with? 210 ?

Marco

A view camera or a press camera? I have a 4x5 view camera and I use it for "art" work -- although I just had a model in Houston that would have been GREAT for using it for FASHION work, if I'd only thought of it!

Looking forward to seeing some of your results!

I have used 4x5 before for landscape photography before, and I have to admire the fact that you want to use it for glamour/fashion work. My only advice is to take your time, and I for one would like to see the results.

Hi use a press camera: Crown Graphic 4x5 with (for now) a 135mm lens. Looking to purchase a 240 or so lens soon.

Well, I thought, if Avedon can, I can :-)

I'll post results once I've found my way in this format

I use Mamiya 4x5 and 6x7 for my studio work. Little diff since the laws of photography still function.. ;-) You will probably want to use an area with lots of room for the 120 to 250mm lens tho. I light for the 'mood" and shoot around f11.

I don't know everything... but will be glad to answer any specific questions you may have.

Tip 1. Invest in (a lot of) film holders... or a roll film reduction back..

Tip 2. Use a gear head on a tripod...much easier for adjustments of the changing poses..

Tip 3. Before you begin your series of shots, make the first holder a "test exposure" on both sides of one holder..that way, you can process that one first and see ifr you need to make any adjustments in either pushing or pulling the film from normal processing...without screwing up your entire batch of film..

Tip 4. invest in a binocular finder...of you don't have one already..it makes life so much easier back there...

I sold my Toyo 45c a few years ago but now, I wish I hadn't..

Have fun!!
