Do any of you still use hand-held light meters with your digital cameras? Just curious.

I have a pair of Minolta Autometer IV F ambient & Flash meters that I use for my light measurement... In sunny lighting conditions when filling the subject with flash or reflected light, it is a must have.....for one, the LCD on the back of my 10D bodies sucks. They are about 1.5 stops too bright.. I just use them to check the scene..... My old D30's LCD was much more accurate believe it or not... I don't unbderstand why Canon didn't use the same old screen on the model they replaced that series of camera with... Yes, and even in my studio, I am using my light meter to fine tune the lighting.. I just like consistancy..

Absolutely. I have found that the meter in my D70 is quite accurate but I like to keep my habit of using a hand-held. I have a Polaris that works great but I really want to get a new Sekonic with a 1 degree spot meter but that won't happen until they're giving them away because they don't come cheap. I hate bills. I hate bill collectors.

Good day!

I find it and absolute necessity for checking lighting ratios. Most of the time I end up fine tunning the exposure using the histogram on the camera, but I still like to know what the ratio is.

I am still using my old Gossen Luna Pro SBC with the digital Olympus E-10. I was just wondered if I was the only one doing it. Thanks to you all for your replys. Picture displayed here taken with a Canon EOS 10s (film camera)...Exposure calculated with the Gossen Luna Pro.
